Shemini Atzeret - Simchat Torah: Let’s Celebrate, It’s Simple

Simple. Not easy. The secret to inner joy.

Stop saying “I need”. Don’t even think it.

We’ve become obsessed. We can’t help ourselves.

We’re so pressured. We can’t stop. We drive ourselves crazy. What are we doing?

The more we have, the more we want. The more we are liked, the more we need to be liked. It goes on and on, with no end in sight.

It gets tiring. Even boring. Frustrating.

How do we stop this vicious spiral? Can we regain control?

Yes we can.

The fault lies in the premise. It’s fundamentally flawed.

What do we really want in life? What do we genuinely need?

We think we need financial success. Perhaps fame is the answer. On a deeper level, we’re desperate for love. That will certainly solve all our problems.

But no. The chase in endless. In fact it gets worse.

That is because human beings are wired differently. We were created to be needed by others. Not to need, ourselves. It’s a paradigm shift.

We were born to serve a purpose. To add value in the lives of others. Every day, every moment.

We learn in order to teach. We teach, to inspire. We earn so that we can share. We create in order to make the world a better place. Each act creates positive momentum. The force becomes contagious.

The more we focus on our own needs, the more frustrated we become. The more we concentrate on serving others, the more liberated we feel.

Inner joy can only be experienced when we completely focus on serving a cause greater then ourselves.

Let’s celebrate. It’s simple.
